About April
April Nitsos is a retired transportation engineer, small business owner, and community leader who brings decades of experience in public service, program management, innovation, and community involvement to the Downtown Lincoln Association.
April retired from Caltrans after 37 years as a Transportation Engineer, where her career included work in Active Transportation, Innovation, and Research. Her extensive experience managing programs and working within a large public agency gives her a valuable understanding of planning, grants, project development, and navigating complex public-sector processes.
Today, April and her family own Rustic Crown Mercantile, a vintage and western store in Lincoln. As a local small business owner, she brings both her professional experience and an entrepreneurial perspective to her work with the DLA.
April's commitment to public service continues beyond her professional career. Since 2020, she has served as a School Board Member for the Western Placer Unified School District, helping support the students, families, and schools of the Lincoln community.
Serving Downtown Lincoln
As a member of the Downtown Lincoln Association Board of Directors and Chair of the Beautification Committee, April helps lead efforts focused on enhancing the appearance, character, and overall experience of Downtown Lincoln.
She also lends her expertise in grants and program management to help support the DLA's programs, projects, and long-term goals. Her 37-year career with Caltrans provides the organization with valuable experience in understanding public programs, identifying funding opportunities, developing projects, and working effectively with government agencies.
April also brings the perspective of a local business owner and elected school board member, giving her a broad understanding of how businesses, public agencies, schools, and community organizations can work together to strengthen Lincoln.
For April, serving on the DLA Board is another opportunity to put her decades of experience to work for the community, helping the organization identify opportunities, improve Downtown Lincoln, and invest in its continued success.
