About Kim
Kim Watt is a longtime small business owner, DLA volunteer, and community advocate who brings years of firsthand experience in Downtown Lincoln to the Downtown Lincoln Association.
Kim's connection to the downtown business community runs deep. She was the original owner of Maggie May's, starting the downtown gift shop and building it into a local business before eventually selling it. Her experience creating and operating a small business gives Kim a valuable understanding of the dedication, challenges, and opportunities that come with entrepreneurship in Downtown Lincoln.
Now retired from business ownership, Kim is enjoying this chapter of life spending time with her grandchildren, while continuing to give back to the community through her involvement with the DLA.
Serving Downtown Lincoln
As Treasurer of the Downtown Lincoln Association, Kim plays an important role in the financial stewardship and governance of the organization. She helps oversee DLA's financial records and reporting, supporting the Board as it makes decisions about programs, events, and investments in Downtown Lincoln.
Kim is also an active member of the Event Committee, helping organize and support the community events that have become an important part of the Downtown Lincoln experience.
Her perspective as a former downtown business owner is especially valuable. Kim understands firsthand that a successful downtown depends on more than individual businesses. It requires collaboration, community involvement, events that bring people downtown, and people willing to invest their time in making the area stronger.
From her years as a small business owner to her continued volunteer leadership with the DLA, Kim has remained committed to the success of Downtown Lincoln.
Her service reflects what the DLA is built upon: local people sharing their experience, time, and talents to strengthen their community.
